Our Story

Our Turn to Serve (OTTS) was founded by David and Shirley Harris in 2008, and is dedicated to giving back to Indiana Veterans who have given so much through their selfless service to this country and its citizens.

OTTS began by providing home renovations to disabled veterans but has now evolved to providing, training and matching service dogs with veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.

Giving Back

Currently the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs does not provide any support or funding for veterans seeking a service dog to assist in their daily lives; OTTS covers that cost for the veterans and in turn helps make substantial impacts on the lives of those who have served in the U.S. armed forces.

Every OTTS service dog is a rescue dog, selected for both temperament and physical ability, matched with every veteran in advance of training to assure complete compatibility.

OTTS is a not for profit, charitable organization formed under Section 501(c)3 of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code.

Our Trainer: Mike Rowland

Mike Rowland has over 20 years of training experience and has trained service dogs for a multitude of jobs as well as training dogs for athletic competition, therapy service and search and rescue. It is through his efforts and the Dogality system, with the mantra “good dogs are born, not bred,” that our program is possible. Mike assists in the selection process and oversees the training program that prepares our dogs for their new lives as service dogs.
